About SIRC The Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India vide their letter .F. No. 11/536/2011-TU-V dated 24th August, 2011 has accorded recognition to Gayatri Vidya Parishad, Visakhapatnam as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO) against our application in May 2011, and subsequent presentation at New Delhi by the three officers of GVP-SIRC, a unit Specially created for coordination of Research and Consultancy activities of all GVP constituents. The benefits that accrue to researchers in GVP institutions because of this recognition are that i) Under the banner of GVP-SIRC it should be possible to submit applications for research grants of substantial amounts (up to a few crores) to organizations like DST, DRDO, DOAE etc., as GVP-SIRC is a Government of India recognized body to carry out R&D. ii) GVP-SIRC can avail custom/excise duty exemption on purchase of equipment, instruments, spares thereof, consumable etc. used for research & development. GVP-SIRC started functioning as a separate unit from September 2011 onwards and has been awarded the SIRO recognition by Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India upto March 31, 2020.
